The Progressive Policy Institute (PPI) is an American political think tank based in Washington, D.C. It was formerly affiliated with the Democratic Leadership Council.
It is described as "the intellectual birthplace of the New Democrat and 'Third Way' movements," as well as "President Bill Clinton's 'idea mill.'"[1] According to the National Endowment for Democracy, PPI "has been integral to the spread of 'Third Way' thinking to center-left parties in Europe and elsewhere."[2]
¶ History
The PPI was founded in January 1989 by Will Marshall to act as the "intellectual center" of the Democratic Leadership Council (DLC).[1:1][3]
