The Global Research Collaboration for Infectious Disease Preparedness (GloPID-R) is an international network of research funding organizations in the area of infectious diseases preparedness research.
The GloPID-R Secretariat is hosted by the Mérieux Foundation in France, in close collaboration with the University of Oxford in England.
In February 2013, a group of international research funding organizations united under the banner of Heads of International Research Organizations (HIROs) in Brussels, Belgium, with GloPID-R formally launching at this meeting.[1][2]
On February 11-12, 2020, GloPID-R co-hosted an event with the World Health Organization's R&D Blueprint called “2019 novel Coronavirus Global research and innovation forum: towards a research roadmap.”[3]
On October 18, 2021, GloPID-R chair Charu Kaushic delivered a presentation to Cochrane on the subject of pandemic preparedness and her work with GloPID-R.[4]
The GloPID-R Secretariat is a project which receives funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 874667.[5]
GloPID-R has 33 members worldwide. The World Health Organization, the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI), ESSENCE on Health Research, the European and Developing Countries Clinical Trials Partnership (EDCTP), the European Research Infrastructure on Highly Pathogenic Agents (ERINHA), Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance and Global Outbreak Alert and Response Network (GOARN) are also actively engaged in the network as observers.[6]
