Novavax is an American biotechnology company based in Gaithersburg, Maryland.
Novavax sponsored the OPTIONS IX for the Control of Influenza conference from August 24-28, 2016 in Chicago, Illinois.[1]
On April 13, 2020, the World Health Organization (WHO) published a "Public statement for collaboration on COVID-19 vaccine development." Gale Smith, Novavax's Chief Scientist, was a signatory.[2]
Novavax is a participating organization in the Accelerating COVID-19 Therapeutic Interventions and Vaccines initiative, first announced April 17, 2020.[3]
Novavax received up to $399 million from the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI) for the development of its COVID-19 vaccine candidate.[4]
Representatives of Novavax met with the Government of Canada's COVID-19 Vaccine Task Force on July 23 and December 10, 2020 to discuss its COVID-19 vaccine candidate.[5]
On February 2, 2021, Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada signed a memorandum of understanding with Novavax to produce its COVID-19 vaccine candidate at National Research Council Canada's Biologics Manufacturing Centre.[6]
COVAX reached a supply agreement with Novavax for its Nuvaxovid product, as well as for Covovax, which the company co-developed with the Serum Institute of India (SII).[7] Novavax CEO Stanley Erck attended the One World Protected event hosted by Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance on April 15, 2021, during which COVAX was officially launched.[8]
On February 17, 2022, Health Canada authorized the Novavax COVID-19 vaccine for use in adults.[9]
Novavax sponsored the World Vaccine Congress Washington 2022, which took place from April 18-21, 2022.[10]
On July 13, 2022, the Food and Drug Administration granted an Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) for the Novavax COVID-19 vaccine.[11]
