Alberta Health Services (AHS) is a Canadian provincial public health agency of the Government of Alberta. It operates under the Alberta Ministry of Health.
Alberta Health Services set up the AHS Emergency Coordination Centre in January 2020.[1] It oversaw the activities of the AHS COVID-19 Scientific Advisory Group.[2]
On July 2, 2020, AHS announced it had been invited by the World Economic Forum (WEF) to join its Global Coalition for Value in Healthcare "to play a role in shaping future healthcare on the international stage."[3]
In October 2022, Premier Danielle Smith stated that she would pull AHS out of its consulting agreement with the WEF.[4]
On June 1, 2023, AHS distributed an internal memo announcing that Deena Hinshaw had been hired as their Indigenous Wellness Core Public Health & Preventive Medicine Lead.[5]
On June 13, 2023, Patrick Heinsen of Borden Ladner Gervais (BLG) sent Dr. Daniel Nagase a letter on behalf of AHS demanding he remove his Substack articles titled "A deadly day in the ER: My thoughts on a patient’s deadly ER visit" and "The Difference Between Negligence and Homicide: a process in thought".[6] AHS legal counsel Sarah Louw was also copied on the e-mail.[7]
AHS has provided funding to 19 to Zero,[8] and participated as a partner in the This Is Our Shot mass advertising campaign for COVID-19 vaccines.[9]
