The Alberta Ministry of Health, also known as Alberta Health, is a ministry of the Government of Alberta responsible for administering provincial health policies.
Alberta Health received a $320,055 grant from the Public Health Agency of Canada's Immunization Partnership Fund for a pilot project using text messages to promote vaccination of infants.[1]
On May 11, 2021, Alberta Health announced it would stop offering "first doses" of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine due to supply issues.[2]
In 2021, Alberta Health introduced the AB Covid Records Verifier application to administer the province's vaccine passport system. On November 15, 2021, the Alberta COVID Records system utilizing a QR code became "the only option for providing proof of vaccination."[3]
Dr. Mark Joffe was appointed as Alberta's Chief Medical Officer of Health on November 14, 2022.[4]
